Michigan Antrim Shale 1991-2010
From a five well test program in the summer of 1991, Mr. Darden and Mr. Cook led Mercury Exploration Company with eight total employees, to become the largest natural gas producer in Michigan with 120 employees, and a major US shale gas producer by the spring of 1999. In 2010, Quicksilver Resources, Inc. under Mr. Cook and Mr. Darden’s direction sold the Michigan and related shale gas assets for $1.3 billion.

VCP Michigan, LLC purchased the EnerVest properties in Michigan (1307 wells and 63,000 net leasehold acres) on August 5, 2020.
